Paper Route connects AI tools like Claude, ChatGPT, and Cursor to your WordPress sites through MCP. One connection, all your sites.
How it works
- Paper Route MCP plugin runs on each WordPress site — it exposes 26 tools (content, filesystem, database, cache, and more)
- Paper Route app sits in the middle — it handles authentication, routes tool calls to the right site, and injects operational knowledge about your hosting environment
- Your AI tool connects to Paper Route via MCP and can manage any of your sites
Setup steps
1. Create a Paper Route account
Go to paperroutewp.com and log in with your email. You'll receive a magic link.
2. Add a property
A property is a group of environments (production, staging, dev) for one client or project. When you add your first site, Paper Route creates a property and generates a connection secret.
Copy the secret — you'll paste it into the WordPress plugin.
3. Install the plugin

4. Connect your AI tool
- Connect Claude Code (CLI / VS Code / JetBrains)
- Connect Claude.ai (web app)
5. Try it
Ask your AI to check which sites are connected:
"Check which sites are connected and get the site info for each one."
If everything is set up correctly, you'll see your sites listed with their WordPress version, hosting environment, and plugin details.
